About the Event

The health of your body's system is tied to your gut's health. And for good gut health the type of flora (bacteria) that dominates is the key. Traditionally fermented foods provide easy to absorb probiotics to our guts to use for battle every day. Whether you are generally healthy or have a few health issues, fermented vegetables such as these fermented carrots can populate your gut with the bacteria it needs to sustain a robust immune system, healthy digestive system, and sound mind.

Fermented carrots for gut health are an easy way to start if you're new to fermenting. They taste like carrots but with a bit of a punch of flavours (a salty, tangy, and slightly sour) and they are super crunchy. You can spice them to suit your own taste buds or maybe give them a more classic pickle flavor by adding pickling spices, garlic, onion, and dill.

What We Do in the Virtual Workshop

  • LEARN: We’ll explain fermentation and have a brief discussion about all the benefits of making and eating fermenting foods
  • DEMO: We’ll show you how to make fermented carrots (3 types: Carrot sticks, shaved carrots and carrot gut shot).
  • DO IT TOGETHER: Roll up your sleeves and follow along as we go through making and packing a jar of to-be fermented food

WE WELCOME YOUR KIDS!

So many kids can be fussy eaters and eat a limited variety of real food, resulting in a lack of diversity of beneficial gut bacteria, translating to less than optimal health, on every level. Your child could benefit greatly from improving the diversity of their gut microbiome and being introduced to a wider selection of plant-based fibre rich, prebiotic and probiotic foods and drinks. Fermented foods are perfectly safe for children, just in smaller amounts, and introducing them gradually. Small steps are the way to go. With a few tweaks you can have them eating better quality food without them realising it, and that’s a win-win situation for everyone!
