About Tanya

For more than 25 years, Tanya Robertson has been helping people in her community reach their health and fitness goals. She takes a multifaceted, holistic approach and believes wholeheartedly that fitness, food and meditation can help heal the mind and body. Her immense passion for what she does and her infectious energy serve as a great motivation for her clients.

As a teenager, she discovered her passion for health and fitness when she started working part-time at the local YMCA. Since then, she's worked as a personal trainer, group fitness instructor and health and fitness coordinator in Canada, the United States and Australia. She started Personalized Fitness in 1999 in Ottawa, Canada and has maintained this business ever since.

While starting out as a fitness-based business, over the years, she has expanded her interest, training and offerings to include yoga, nutrition, meditation and sound bathing, often combining them all based on her client’s goals, needs and preferences.

With a desire and interest to bring a progressive approach in health and fitness to the educational system, she completed teacher’s college in 2015 and graduated with a teaching degree in health and physical education. For the past few years, she has been teaching kids of all ages at various schools in the Ottawa-area on a part-time and occasional teaching basis.

She is currently also the Health and Fitness Coordinator for the staff at Ottawa’s Bruyere Hospital, where she teaches group classes to health care providers and oversees a team of trainers and yoga instructors.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Tanya quickly embraced new ways of providing her services, offering a variety of group training classes and personal training sessions to her clients online, using an interactive approach. Her philosophy for these classes remains focused on personalization, connection and community.
